Acupuncture

Service Description

Helen has 15 years experience of practicing acupuncture in the NHS. She undertook an approved post graduate course and undertakes regular updates so you can be assured of her knowledge, understanding and obligations to adhere to the highest standards of practice. Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Qi or chi - pronounced "chee" - is the energy flow created along the pathways that connect the acupuncture points on the body. Western acupuncture involves using these points to stimulate sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. This results in the body producing natural substances such as pain relieving endorphins. The NHS advice site suggests that "a course of acupuncture creates longer lasting pain relief than when a single treatment is used". It is for this reason and using firsthand experience that we suggest a course of 6 sessions is the optimum for pain relief and recovery.
